After driving further Southwest we finally reached the little coast village of Ifaty. The village itself is not very spectacular but it has lots of cute bungalow hotels and restaurants lining up at kilometer long stretches of white beaches. On top it has a beautiful coral reef some kilomters out from the coast, which we of course went to explore with a couple of scuba dives.

Here we (at last 😄) felt we could really wind down, spending some lazy days at the beach and pool. Besides diving, our only action was to go visit a parc with Baobab trees and Tobi got an introduction to some proper French Pétanque (also called Boule) by our driver Joel, who used to play in the Malagassy national team a few years ago.

Nachdem wir weiter nach Südwesten gefahren waren, erreichten wir schließlich das kleine Küstendorf Ifaty. Das Dorf selbst ist nicht sehr spektakulär, aber es hat viele niedliche Bungalow-Hotels und Restaurants, die sich an kilometerlangen weißen Stränden ansiedeln. Darüber hinaus hat es ein wunderschönes Korallenriff einige Kilometer von der Küste entfernt, das wir natürlich mit ein paar Tauchgängen erkundet haben.

Hier (endlich 😄) hatten wir das Gefühl, dass wir uns wirklich entspannen konnten und einige faule Tage am Strand und Pool verbringen konnten. Neben dem Tauchen war unsere einzige Aktion, einen Park mit Affenbrotbäumen zu besuchen, und Tobi bekam eine Einführung in eine richtige französische Pétanque (auch Boule genannt) von unserem Fahrer Joel, der vor einigen Jahren in der malagassischen Nationalmannschaft spielte.
