Also an old couple spontaneously invited us into their home to show us the amazing view over the city…

The next day, we headed north along the coast to Zapallar to see Kata’s granddad’s nephew Uffe who is living in Santiago for a long time and who was on vacation there. We stayed with him and a friend for a night, took a long awaited swim in the Pacific (16 degrees cold!), and enjoyed perfectly grilled pork ribs together with the amazing view over the bay.

Then we took another bus back to Santiago where we met up with, Tibault, a friend of Kata’s who is living there for about a year, whom she knows from her studies abroad in Grenoble. He showed us around in the city and lead us to the top of the highest building in South America, the Sky Tower.

We returned our car in Temuco and then took an overnight bus (with business class like seats!) to Santiago, where we met up with our Chilean friends for breakfast and got the key for their apartment in Valparaiso, which they kindly offered to us, and then headed on to said paradise valley.
