Two days ago, we left Ushuaia and flew to El Calafate, a touristy place next to the national park Los Glaciares (The Glaciers) and the Argentinian trekking center of El Chalten. There we spend a day with doing not much at all as I somehow had caught a stomach bug and was not feeling too well, but I think I’m fine again. We also ran into our Swabish friends from Ushuaia and went out to dinner with them again. There we christened them with the name “The Swabish Metronome” as they raised their wine glasses to drink every two minutes, with clocklike precision! The next day, we visited the amazing Perito Moreno glacier, a massive beast extending over 280 square kilometers, before flowing into the Lago Argentino with an ice wall 60m high and 4km wide, an incredible sight. Every few minutes, large chunks of ice break off and plunge into the water below, fascinating…<\/p>\n

Later that day, we took a bus ride to El Chalten where we are right now. The wind here is insane, on the way from the bus station to our hotel, we had to stop a few times as the wind was too strong to continue. Let’s see how that will affect our hike tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Vor zwei Tagen verlie\u00dfen wir Ushuaia und flogen nach El Calafate, einem touristischen Ort neben dem Nationalpark Los Glaciares (The Glaciers) und dem argentinischen Trekkingzentrum El Chalten. Dort verbringen wir einen Tag damit, \u00fcberhaupt nicht viel zu tun, da ich irgendwie einen Magen-Darm-Problem hatte und mich nicht so gut f\u00fchlte, aber ich denke, es geht mir wieder gut. Wir trafen auch unsere schw\u00e4bischen Freunde aus Ushuaia und gingen wieder mit ihnen essen. Dort tauften wir sie mit dem Namen “The Swabish Metronome”, als sie ihre Weingl\u00e4ser alle zwei Minuten mit Uhrgenauigkeit zum Trinken anhoben! Am n\u00e4chsten Tag besuchten wir den erstaunlichen Perito Moreno Gletscher, ein gewaltiges Teil, der sich \u00fcber 280 Quadratkilometer erstreckt, bevor er mit einer 60m hohen und 4km breiten Eiswand in den Lago Argentino fliesst, ein unglaublicher Anblick. Alle paar Minuten brechen gro\u00dfe Eisbrocken ab und tauchen in das Wasser darunter, faszinierend…<\/p>\n

Sp\u00e4ter am Tag nahmen wir einen Bus nach El Chalten, wo wir uns gerade befinden. Der Wind hier ist wahnsinnig, auf dem Weg vom Busbahnhof zu unserem Hotel mussten wir ein paar Mal anhalten, da der Wind zu stark war, um fortzufahren. Mal sehen, wie sich das auf unsere Wanderung morgen auswirken wird.<\/p>\n
