Mora mora is the malagasy expression for slowly slowly<\/em> and seem to be the philosophy here. That can sometimes be quite frustrating when you are not used to it – or in a hurry. After St Marie we continued back to the highlands and passed Antananarivo again on the way to Antsirabe. Antsirabe is an industrial city with several factories, for example Madagaskar’s biggest brewery Three Horses Beer<\/em>, a milling plant and dairy production. They also have production of aluminium pots and decorations, which we went to watch. It was quite fascinating to see how they remelted old aluminium parts and used the special soil in the area to form the molds.<\/p>\n

The next day we continued Southwest towards Ambositra. On the way we passed by a broidery place, where they were producing beautiful table cloths, a precious stone processor, and a manufacturer of goods such as cutlery and decorations from Zebu horns. Where we now are is after all the land of the Bara tribe, who are predominantly cattle herders. That is also obvious from the roads, where you meet huge cattle herds being transported to Antananarivo by foot that cause some traffic jams. Mora mora!<\/p>\n

In the evening we reached the National Park Ranomafana, where we met up with our guide for a night walk. It was again incredible how he easily could spot several different chameleons and the small mouse lemur in the trees. The next day we went for a hike in the park and saw another bunch of different lemurs, and one or two chameleons. You notice the temperature difference here on the highlands compared to the coast. It was around comfortably 23 degrees but extremly high humidity, typical for a rain forest.<\/p>\n

The following day we continued further Southwest on the N7 with a quick stop at the private nature reserve Anja park, where we could finally see some Katta lemures (nice name!). In the evening we arrived to Ranohira next to Isalo nationalpark, where we will start our next adventure.<\/p>\n

Unterwegs kamen wir an einer Stickerei vorbei, wo sie sch\u00f6ne Tischdecken herstellten, ein Edelsteinverarbeiter und ein Hersteller von Waren wie Besteck und Dekorationen aus Zebuh\u00f6rnern. Wo wir jetzt sind, ist schlie\u00dflich das Land des Bara-Stammes, der \u00fcberwiegend Viehz\u00fcchter ist. Das zeigt sich auch an den Stra\u00dfen, wo man auf riesige Viehherden trifft, die zu Fu\u00df nach Antananarivo transportiert werden, was zu Staus f\u00fchrt. Mora mora!<\/p>\n

Am Abend erreichten wir den Nationalpark Ranomafana, wo wir uns mit unserem Reiseleiter zu einem Nachtwanderung trafen. Es war wieder unglaublich, wie er leicht mehrere verschiedene Cham\u00e4leons und den kleinen Maus-Lemur in den B\u00e4umen erkennen konnte. Am n\u00e4chsten Tag machten wir eine Wanderung im Park und sahen einen weiteren Haufen verschiedener Lemuren und ein oder zwei Cham\u00e4leons. Man merkt den Temperaturunterschied hier im Hochland im Vergleich zur K\u00fcste. Es war um die 23 Grad, aber extrem hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit, typisch f\u00fcr einen Regenwald.<\/p>\n

Am n\u00e4chsten Tag ging es weiter s\u00fcdwestlich auf der N7 mit einem kurzen Zwischenstopp im privaten Naturschutzgebiet Anja Park, wo wir endlich einige Katta Lemuren sehen konnten (sch\u00f6ner Name!). Am Abend kamen wir in Ranohira am Isalo Nationalpark an, wo wir unser n\u00e4chstes Abenteuer beginnen werden.<\/p>\n
